Programs Description

Petroleum engineering

Energy plays a key role in our everyday lives from our smartphones to our cars to our houses it raises our standard of living. Through teamwork and an innovator’s mindset, petroleum engineers fuel the world. Using mathematics, physics and geology, petroleum engineers are able to address and solve important issues that will lead to energy security and thus are in high demand.

The first exploration in the basin of our country was undertaken by Standard Oil in 1920 more recent exploration by Tenneco resulted in the discovery of an estimated 68 million cubic metres (2.4 billion cubic feet) of gas in 1974. Development of the reserves in the Jeehdin and Elale basin’s gas fields is being carried out by the Gazoil Ethiopia Project, a joint-venture partnership between the government of Ethiopia and Texas based Sicor announced in December 1999.

The Ogaden Basin is an area of Huwan that may hold significant reserves of crude oil and natural gas. The basin covers an area of some 350,000 square kilometres (135,000 square miles) and is formed from sedimentary rocks up to 10,000 meters (6 miles) thick. It has geological similarities to other

hydrocarbon-rich basins in the Middle East.

Petroleum engineering overlaps with many of the engineering disciplines, including mechanical, chemical and civil engineering.

Petroleum engineering is a combination of innovation, exploration and expansion. This major provides the building blocks for every other profession to effectively carry out its work.

  • Graduates of this program will:
  • Evaluate potential oil and gas reservoirs
  • Oversee drilling activities
  • Select and implement recovery schemes
  • Design surface collection and treatment facilities

Petroleum engineers use supercomputers, not only in analysis of exploration data and simulation of reservoir behavior, but also in automation of oilfield production and drilling operations. Petroleum engineers have a future full of challenges and opportunities. They must develop and apply new technology to recover hydrocarbons from oil shale and offshore oil and gas fields. They must also devise new techniques to recover oil left in the ground after application of conventional producing techniques.

Since many petroleum companies conduct worldwide and country operations, since kabridahar university near the jeehdin and elele gas, it  has the opportunity for bring Petroleum engineers that can solve the variety of technological, political, and economic problems encountered in our country. These exciting challenges combine to offer a petroleum engineers a most rewarding career.

Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, buildings etc. It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines including Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering. Subjects related to structural engineering deals with the analysis and design of structures that support or resist loads. Structural Engineering is largely the implementation of mechanics to the design of the large structures that are fundamental to basic living, such as buildings, bridges, walls, dams, and tunnels. Structural engineering theory is based upon applied physical laws and empirical knowledge of the structural performance of different materials and geometries. Structural engineering design utilizes a number of simple structural elements to build complex structural systems. While subjects related to Geotechnical engineering associate with the behavior of soils under the influence of loading forces and soil-water interactions. This knowledge is applied to the design of foundations, retaining walls, earth dams, clay liners, and geo-synthetics for waste containment. The goals of geotechnical engineers could range from the design of foundations and temporary excavation support, through route selection for railways and highways, to the increasingly important areas of landfill disposal of wastes and groundwater contamination. Geotechnical principles are important in civil engineering, but also has applications in military, mining, petroleum and other engineering disciplines that are concerned with construction occurring on the surface or within the ground.

Construction Technology & Management

Construction Technology & Management is designed to deliver integrated technology and management of construction. While technology refers to methods or procedures of techniques applied to bring the best result, management is to plan, organize control and administer a number of different components such as resources, processes, desires, and their combined performance by using human and non-human energy in order to accomplish the optimum results. Construction management is mostly concerned with specifying project objectives and plans including delineation of scope, budgeting, scheduling, setting performance requirements, and selecting project participants, maximizing the resource efficiency through procurement of labor, materials and equipment, implementing various operations through proper coordination and control.

Computer Science

Computer Science program is to provide students with a broad and flexible education in computer science and, to prepare its graduates for rapidly changing technological fields, and give them a sound basis for professional practice, advanced education, active citizenship, and lifelong learning. The students are prepared to expand this knowledge through research into new technologies, design methods, and analysis techniques that link the knowledge with multi-disciplinary fields and advance the state of the art. With a knowledge of contemporary technological issues and their impact globally, economically, and environmentally, computer scientists are at the forefront of advances that continually transform society.

Information technology

IT professionals are as numerous as all types of engineers combined, we are convinced that a very good way of kick starting the IT market in the country is via getting engaged in outsourcing. That is why IT is attempting to provide three new curricula in the UG programs that aim at qualifying students who can be engaged in outsourcing activities.

Information technology is the use of computers to create, process, store, retrieve, and exchange all kinds of data and information. IT forms part of information and communications technology. An information technology system is generally an information system, a communications system, or, more specifically speaking, a computer system, including all hardwaresoftware, and peripheral equipment operated by a limited group of IT users.

The Kabridahar University is currently planning to produce graduates who are competent and productive in the current dynamic information technology world. Taking into consideration the local and global demands for IT professionals,

Software engineering

Software engineering is a systematic engineering approach to software development. Engineering techniques are used to inform clarification needed the software development process, which involves the definition, implementation, assessment, measurement, management, change, and improvement of the software life cycle process itself. It heavily uses software configuration management which is about systematically controlling changes to the configuration, and maintaining the integrity and traceability of the configuration and code throughout the system life cycle. Modern processes use software versioning.

software engineer is a person who applies the principles of software engineering to design, develop, maintain, test, and evaluate computer software. The term programmer is sometimes used as a synonym, but may also lack connotations of engineering education or skills.

Software engineering undergraduate degrees have been established at many universities. Kebdirahar University is going to start this year standard curriculum for undergraduate software engineering degrees.
